About Me
Overall I have been playing and teaching guitar for over 20 years and played in a series of cover and original bands in New Zealand . I am a past guitar columnist and reviewer for New Zealand musician magazine and have taught one on one guitar as well as classroom or clinic environments. I decided to take guitar lessons online because it is convenient for both the teacher and the student as nobody has to drive anywhere. In today’s world there are a lot of people working and living in remote areas who require an outlet or access to quality music instruction. Today it is an online music teaching gateway to some of the best lessons in the world.
What's on offer
There are six guitar courses currently on offer, from Beginner to Advanced and suitable for all styles. All lessons are well prepared and designed to suit individual needs. Students have the option of following course curriculum or can concentrate on a particular area to meet specific requirements .
GUITAR 101
Course focuses on basic music rudiments such as chords, scales, key signatures, intervals and songs of interest. Learn and memorize the notes on the fretboard. Master rudiments of tuning and playing open/bar and power chords. Take control of rhythm and timing as well as conditioning both left and right hands. Enjoy finger style and learn basic major, minor and pentatonic scales. Learn basic chord construction, simple licks and chord progressions to kick start you on your musical adventure.
GUITAR FUNDAMENTALS
Course focuses on clarifying music theory fundamentals and applied theory. Understand how simple music theory can be: key signatures, intervals, triads, chord and scale construction, chord relationships, improvisation with major, minor and pentatonic scales, diatonic scales and blues scales. Learn the art of effective practicing and map out a plan to improve your playing, study advanced chord construction, transposition, sharpen your ear with ear training, and enhance your playing with vibrato, hammer on's and pull off's and much more.
LEAD GUITAR
The total aim of this course focuses on the student that wants to develop their lead guitar technique. It covers sweep and speed picking, harmonics, fret board tapping, whammy bar, sequencing, vibrato and string bending. Also harmonized major scale, single string scales, and the three note per string scale concept. Diminished and augmented chords and scales, scale relationships, alternate picking, hammer on’s, pull off’s legato, string skipping, eight or two finger tapping, diatonic arpeggio sweeping and advanced sequencing. Basic song construction and composition, funk lead guitar. Learn harmony and modulation plus introduction to the seven modes.
GUITAR CREATIVE
The total aim of this course focuses on students developing their own style and providing an effective approach to writing or enhancing music composition. Learn to compose a music by applying chords and scales to a song structure, create melodic riffs. Learn to improvise over a chord progression, also learn how to break down a song and learn it by ear. Have the seven modes revealed and understood. Explore harmonic and melodic minor scales and their relative chord theory. Learn exotic scales - Hungarian minor, enigmatic and how to invent your own scales. Course focuses on writing your own music and getting creative.
GUITAR EXPLORER
Course focuses on discovering new ideas and expanding the capability of the guitar.
Welcome to the world of alternative tunings DADGAD open A E and G tunings. Learn to invent your own scales. Topics such as cathedral guitar, Jazz chords and lead ideas, country licks, Spanish, flamenco and classical guitar styles, learn about guitar effects, slide guitar, various finger style and open string chords. this course is very flexible and may include various topics from other courses. Learn about foreign scales such as Japanese, Chinese and Hindu scales. Experiment with Funk and reggae guitar. Learn about guitar sound effects, wah wah, whammy pedal, digital delay, phaser and more.
