The website Guitarist.co.nz has been operating since 2001 (ten years), however only recently has the site received more attention as the owner Matt Lithgow has decided to pursue guitar playing and teaching again.Guitarist.co.nz had its origins as a small business called Essential Guitar Lessons which operated from New Plymouth and Palmerston North in New Zealand. Today Guitarist.co.nz is really a global website as Matt Lithgow spends time between Australia, New Zealand and sometimes Asia. "I always had a vision for guitarist.co.nz to be an online service, which gave people in remote areas access to quality guitar lessons" with better internet services I now believe that this vision is a reality for 2011 and the future.
Bio – Matt Lithgow Been playing guitar for over twenty years and have extensive experience performing as a professional musician. I have conducted guitar clinics for Zoom effects processers and Ibanez guitars and between 1997-1998 I wrote a guitar column and reviewed products for New Zealand Musician Magazine. As a music teacher, I have taught in over 15 Schools' polytechnic and continuing education departments and during 1997-2000 I operated a small guitar teaching business providing individual and group tuition. I have been fortunate enough to play in support bands that have opened for artists such as Jimmy Barnes (AUS), Herbs (NZ) and Pungent Stench (Austria). I welcome anyone with the desire to learn to play the guitar, to try my straight to the point method.
